OMG…! You must be thinking: “What is that extravagant colour palace and can you please take me there!?” Bizarre as it may sound, this shoot took place in the former Sant Pau hospital; right in the centre of Barcelona – assuredly, the most dazzling and fascinating one I have ever seen. I bet that also applies to you.
Being a true Barcelona local, I felt ashamed I had never heard of this amazing place until I recently discovered it on my way to Parc Güell. I was mesmerized about this forgotten treasure and immediately knew that I had to show you guys.
And then it got serious: standing out in an explosion of colour is no easy task after all. Strategy is key here. So I sat down at my desk, I took pen and paper and started writing down my strategy:
Step 1. Choose a neutral colour palette.
Step 2. Add a touch of colour that will emphasise the beauty of the surroundings.
Step 3. Devour the pages of your favourite fashion magazines and dig deep into your inspiration folder to find some worthy poses.
Step 4. Inform your photographer about this mission and ask him to bring his A-Game.
With my plan in hand, I now took it to the closet. Black, white, cream, blue, grey, where do I start? Coco Chanel taught us all that there’s nothing like white to stand out, so white it was then! The first step was completed. Armed with my leather pants and fringed jacket, I was ready for the quest to find my colour for the day.
Thinking back at the red tones of the building stones, crimson was clearly the colour to go for. This made for the perfect moment to rearrange my wardrobe and go on the hunt for buried gems. Thus, I was tenderly reunited with my treasured cherry-hued blouse after months being lost at the back of my closet and fell in love once again with its playful bow around the neck.
Add to that some black mules, et voilà! Together with steps three and four, it resulted in this chromatic spectacle for your eyes to enjoy!
